Blurb

We crashed into each other like the moth and the flame.

For years, we've been best friends.

I told him all my secrets and I believed I knew his.

In camp, I thought he was the most beautiful boy in the world.

In high-school, I promised him my virginity.

On our first day of college, I had three revelations:

He's a jerk.

He doesn't care.

I don't even know him.

My Thoughts

TRULY YOURS by Mia Miller is the story of Oscar and Delia who first meet at a summer camp at twelve years of age. During their teen years, letters are exchanged until they peter out. Coincidentally, they cross paths during their first year of college and the majority of the book focuses on their time in college.

For me, this book felt more like a coming of age book than a romance. In fact, there are significant twists in the story that better lend themselves to a thriller novel than a romance. It’s a fast read but I think it’s too short to do justice to some of the topics/issues introduced. A lot of things happen but they are rarely fully explored; they seem to be accepted at face value before the story moves on. The ending is abrupt and I finished the book unconvinced that Oscar and Delia are soulmates.

I enjoyed the music mentioned in the book and took time out to listen in between reading. La Campanella by Liszt was lovely; I haven’t heard it in years.
