New Release: BEARD WITH ME by Penny Reid

“This is Penny Reid at her finest.” -- L.B. Dunbar, author

BEARD WITH ME, an epic and breathtaking story from New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Penny Reid, is available now!

No one is better at surviving than Scarlet St. Claire and making the best out of circumstances beyond her control is Scarlet’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, she’d be the last person on earth, hermitting like a pro, singing along to her CD Walkman, and dancing like no one is watching.
Scarlet is clever, Scarlet is careful, and Scarlet is smart . . . except when it comes to Billy Winston.
No one is better at fighting than Billy Winston and raging against his circumstances—because nothing is beyond his control—is Billy’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, he’d be the first person on earth to lead others to safety, overcome catastrophe, or die trying.
Billy is fearless, Billy is disciplined, and Billy is honorable . . . except when it comes to Scarlet St. Claire.
‘Beard With Me’ is the origin story of Billy Winston and Scarlet St. Claire (aka Claire McClure) and is just the beginning of their epic love story.

Book Review: SILVER BREWER by L.B. Dunbar

SILVER BREWER: The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge

by L.B. Dunbar
Genre: Over 40 Romance Stand alone
Release Date: September 12, 2019

Olivet Pierson needs his land.

Name your price, Mr. Harrington.

She has her reasons, and this muscular mountain of masculinity isn’t going to get in her way. However, her heart has a different plan after she accepts his crazy conditions: three nights up on the ridge.

George Harrington is a quiet, giant of a man.
No sale, Cricket.
He’s a war hero, a widower, and COO for the family brewing company, but his life lacks spontaneity. Then, she arrives, chirping away at him, roaming his body with those sky-blue eyes, and negotiating for something he won’t put a price on. Too bad his heart is immediately sold.

With the challenge accepted, this silver fox can no longer deny his desires for something a little different.

Welcome to Blue Ridge where sexy silver foxes meet their match of feisty vixens.

The Harrington brothers are a spin-off from Second Chance, but don’t you worry, this over 40 romance can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

I love romance novels that make me think about and contemplate what I would do in certain situations, and that’s the beauty of romances featuring 40+ characters; they really can move in the most unexpected directions.

L.B. Dunbar’s SILVER BREWER has many twists for the reader. I really did not know which direction this story was going to take. This is definitely a compliment because one thing this book is not is formulaic. I often stopped and thought about what I would do, and I was driving myself crazy. These characters should be grateful their happy-ever-after played out in a few hundred pages.

Not only do Olivet “Letty” Pierson meets George “Giant” Harrington have very different pasts, their futures look poles apart, that is, until they cross paths and recognise something desirable in the other. There is definitely a physical attraction – and Dunbar certainly delivers on the sexy times – but it’s a lot more than that. Letty and Giant recognised something in each other that was strong enough for them to want to explore. And without giving anything away, the amount of relevant, real-life issues and concerns these two had to wade through is not for the faint-hearted.

I thought Dunbar did a great job in allowing us to understand these characters and what drove them. I was certainly cheering for them to come together even when I could also argue for them to go their separate ways.

There’s certainly more to look forward to in The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. We learn a bit more about Giant’s other brothers and my interest is definitely piqued. Can’t wait for the next one!

L.B. Dunbar loves the sweeter things in life: cookies, Coca-Cola, and romance. Her reading journey began with a deep love of fairy tales and alpha males. She loves a deep belly laugh and a strong hug. Occasionally, she has the energy of a Jack Russell terrier. Accused—yes, that’s the correct word—of having an overactive imagination, to her benefit, such an imagination works well.

Author of over two dozen novels, she’s created sexy rom-coms for the over 40; intrigue on an island; MMA chaos; rock star mayhem, and sweet small-town romance. In addition, she earned a title as the “myth and legend lady” for her modernizations of mythology as elda lore. Her other duties in life include mother to four children and wife to the one and only.

Book Review: HOW TO RUIN YOUR EX'S WEDDING by Denise Wells

Release Date: September 4, 2019
Cover Design: Opulent Designs

But when my ex-wife lands a starring role in the wedding of the year, it’s tempting to change things up a bit.
Who’s better than me to follow her around before and during the big day, capturing every picturesque moment, snapping every detail as they join together in wedlock? No one.
Not to mention, she still owes me for destroying my prized vintage camera during our divorce.
As the saying goes, revenge is a dish best served cold.

My Thoughts

HOW TO RUIN YOUR EX’S WEDDING by Denise Well is an enjoyable and often laugh-out-loud second chance romance. Pax and Tabatha are relatively even-keeled but when they cross paths it’s sheer destruction. They love each other; they hate each other. It really is as complicated and simple as that.

For me, Pax was the star of the book. I’d describe him as a beta hero with some alpha tendencies. He’s comfortable talking about his feelings with his best friend, he is not beneath sabotaging his ex-wife’s upcoming wedding, and nor is he beneath acting a tad silly at times. He is also sincere and open to questioning his beliefs in order to grow.

I do need to confess that the book did not create a good first impression. The prologue was quite far-fetched, the main characters really were so horrible that I closed the book and left it for a few days. The characters that we meet in Chapter One, which takes place ten years after the prologue are much more interesting.

If you’re after a fun read that has a touch of soberness, this would tick the box.

About the Author

Denise Wells has been reading since before she could talk. And to this day, escaping into a book is her go-to activity before anything else. She's the author of five romance novels and one YA novel to date. She likes to write about sassy women and semi-flawed alpha-esque men. Denise's female characters always have strong friendships, potty mouths, and like to drink--a lot.

Denise is loyal to a fault, a bit too sarcastic, blindingly optimistic, and pretty freakin' happy with life overall. As a diehard fan of the band Journey, Denise would be a rock star in the band if she couldn't be a writer. Preferably during the Steve Perry years, when they were awesome.

Home is in the Pacific Northwest where she lives with six special needs dogs, one cat (who's busy plotting the demise of the six dogs), and a husband (BW) who has the patience and tolerance of a saint. And, lest she forget, Denise also lives with too many to count characters inside her head, who will eventually have their stories told.
