About the Book
The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars.

The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.

We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars...until we both got swept away.

My Thoughts

"Not all love stories come with happy endings, but some do."

I have greatly enjoyed every Kate Stewart book I have read to date but SOMEONE ELSE’S OCEAN has surpassed her other books by a long way. I absolutely loved it!

Both Koti and Ian have run away to a Barbados Island to escape. Once childhood friends, they meet again after many years. Koti is slowly building her life back up after escaping the rate race. Ian is licking his wounds after an ultimate betrayal. Their attraction is fierce, but beyond that, neither is capable of giving the other what they need; they are both fearful of commitment, but they’re unable to stop this wave whose force sees them tumbling together and toward each other.

This is a love story. This is a romance. This is a narrative that lets you dive into the depths of Koti’s and Ian’s relationship. It’s a story filled with emotion, feeling, lust, love, anger, hopelessness, courage, acceptance, joy and much, much more. It is captivating!

Even though there are some heavy topics addressed in the book, there’s lightness and much humour that balances nicely.

Add a gorgeous island setting and a great cast of secondary characters, especially Koti’s BFF Jasmine, and you’re looking at one spectacular book. The road to a happy ever after is not smooth for this couple but the journey to get there is worth it. I highly recommend this book.
