My Thoughts
What a fun book! I do enjoy books featuring a fake
relationship but what elevated this one for me is the amount of fun Hallie had in
the role.
Money and career wise, Hallie is not where she thought she
would be. Playing it safe for several years, means Hallie is back on the bottom
rung of her chosen career.
A chance meeting lands Hallie with an offer to play
girlfriend to Max Carlisle, billionaire, adventurer and a man not ready to
settle down to the demands of his family.
Look, Max is no slouch in any department and in this book he undergoes his own metamorphosis.
Yet it’s Hallie’s attitude to take things as they come and embrace them that
makes this book. She is fun and she brings fun into Max’s life. She is not
angling for anything more than they initially agreed and this in turn allows
Max to relax and lower his own barriers to Hallie.
A perfect beach read.

“I think we should establish some ground rules,” I announce, as we drive along the curving ocean road. Palm trees are swaying, the ocean is glittering aquamarine blue, and it’s all so gorgeous and romantic, I need to cling to some semblance of professionalism.
Max groans. “Do we have to?”
“Yes,” I say firmly. “We’re pretending to be in a
relationship, so things could get . . .”
