My Thoughts
A Shameless Little Con is a fabulous start to the Shameless
trilogy, a three book series following Jane Borokov, the woman everyone loves
to hate, and, Silas Gentian, the man charges with protecting her.
Meli Raine does a great job in bringing out the drama and
tension in this book. It was a thoroughly enjoyable book and I struggled with
wanting to race through it while at the same time wanting to slow down and
savour the details.
Jane’s situation is beyond scary. Not only is her physical self
in danger but her reputation and life has been shredded by the media. And we
all know how prolific and downright brutal keyboard warriors can be these days.
Jane’s situation causes much anxiety but Raine peppers the
story with regular doses of sarcastic humour, giving us readers a little
respite from the relentless attacks.
The book ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book two!
