My Thoughts

I am happy to say that after a slow start, I ended up enjoying this book. My first attempt to read had me stopping at approximately the 15% mark. I was later kicking myself because it was not long after this point that I felt the storyline became much more engaging.
Overall, I did enjoy the book, however, there were parts that overshadowed what I felt should be Miller and Kinsey’s story to the point they became the supporting cast in their own book.
The scenes between Miller and Kinsey when together, with no one else around, were great. Yes, the steamy scenes between them show their compatibility between the sheets but it’s the conversations and other ‘couple moments’ they had that showed how much they felt for each other and how well suited they were. A supportive touch here, an encouraging smile there, and we see the slow build of a lovely relationship.

In the presence of others, I also enjoyed the camaraderie and fun the characters had. Sanchez is an absolute nutcase and I laughed at his antics. The addition of Harley to unbalance the rigid control of Jax also was fun to read. Frustratingly, it was these times, and there were many of them, that Miller and Kinsey seem to take a back seat and we’re either watching the Sanchez comedy hour or the romance between Jax and Harley. I actually loved reading about Jax and Harley (and grandma) and I wanted more. However, the more I got of them, the less I did of Miller and Kinsey.

The book ends on a satisfying note and the secrets hinted at throughout are uncovered. There is closure for the characters and everyone is moving on. I haven’t read Fraternize, book one in the Players Game series, but I plan to do so. I want to see the spotlight on Grant Sanchez and learn more about Quinton Miller.
