My Thoughts
Hey, Whiskey is a lovely slow burn romance as well as a
story about what it means to find your home and family, even if you’re not
blood relations.
Saylor’s life has been rootless since childhood. As a product
of the foster-care system, even when stability comes her way she struggles to
be comfortable in that space. This contrasts greatly from Rhett’s solid
upbringing.
Saylor and Rhett’s initial meeting has them butting heads
and this love-hate relationship continues until the emotional walls between
them begin to lower. They may come from different backgrounds but they suit
each other as people.
There are some moments of drama in the book but overall it’s
an angst free read that focuses on two people discovering each other and
themselves.
